Business Rates Retention: Draft Regulations

The report advised that the Department for Communities and Local Government had published as a consultation document the draft regulations that would underpin the Business Rates Retention scheme. It was noted that the draft regulations incorporated the proposals in the technical consultation published on 17 July upon which the Council had responded (Decision No D120120MEM refers). A letter had been sent by the Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance to local Members of Parliament asking for their support and whilst it was considered that no further response was required, reference should be made to those earlier representations.
The Cabinet resolved that:
The further consultation paper be noted and the view be endorsed that no further response in respect of business rate retention be sent.
Reasons: As set out in the report of the Director of Finance.
